WWE Wrestlemania 40 “XL” Night Two (Wrestling Review)

Wrestlemania 40 XL Night Two

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

April 7th, 2024

WWE World Heavyweight Title Match
Seth Rollins (c) vs. Drew McIntyre

This was a great opening match. Kept it short and had Drew come out like a monster attacking a beaten down Seth who was still hurt from night one. The title change made sense. Post match beat down on Drew by Punk for Priest to come in and cash in to take the belt too was predictable but worked.

Six Man Tag Team Philadelphia Street Fight (Special Referee: Bubba Ray Dudley)
The Pride (Angelo Dawkins, Bobby Lashley & Montez Ford) (w/B-Fab) vs. The Final Testament (Akam, Karrion Kross & Rezar) (w/Scarlett)

A boring feud no one cares about ending with a less than stellar brawl. Felt like the only things that mattered here was the women going through a table and getting Dudley and Snoop out there.

Singles Match
AJ Styles vs. LA Knight

Another match that wasn’t anything special. This felt like a solid main event for a Raw type deal. Knight is over but not sure where he goes from here. Styles is massive (in size) right now but likely at the tail end of his career really.

2.5 / 5

WWE United States Title Triple Threat Match
Logan Paul (w/IShowSpeed) (c) vs. Randy Orton vs. Kevin Owens

This was a fun but simple 3 way dance. They kept the formula that most do and the action stayed consistent even if the match itself wasn’t the most interesting always.

3 / 5

WWE Women’s Title Match
IYO SKY (c) vs. Bayley

This was the only womens match of the show and they had the crowd going with it. Bayley came off looking like a great face that fought through an injury and got the job done herself.

3.75 / 5

WWE Title / WWE Universal Title Bloodline Rules Match
Roman Reigns (w/Paul Heyman) (c) vs. Cody Rhodes

So much better than the night one main event. Cody winning was the only logical part as Roman has had the belt for years and its overdue. While Cody might not be a long term star and not sure outside of The Rock who he can actually feud with, they needed him to win. The interference’s here worked great with the likes of Rock, Cena, and Undertaker popping up. Also at just over 30 minutes it didn’t drag really at all and thankfully didn’t go too long.
