Spawning from the belly of the Dallas death/black metal scene of the late 2000’s, this Lone Star State 5-piece has been spreading their blasphemous style of ‘deathened black metal’ throughout the south central United States like a venomous plague! Check out Sparrows after the jump!
Since their inception in 2010, Sparrows has unleashed a furious storm of Texas styled, deathened black metal across the south-central part of the United States. The first in a three part series of EP’s, 2012’s Mark of The Beast: Indoctrination, delivered a fresh, and ruthless auditory assault to audiences abroad. Combining a very tasty, and very heavy blend of Skeletonwitch styled thrash, with the grinding and blasphemous backbone of bands like Behemoth, Goatwhore, and (old) Abigail Williams.
The bands most recent offering has truly lived up to it’s predecessor’s (un)holy reputation!
Mark of The Beast II: Eradication, is in my opinion, their best work yet! The band seems to have found, and defined that certain special ugly, that will be sure to see these guys on to a lengthy career. Punishing tracks like “Hunters” and the always neck breaking title-track, “Eradication”, are prime examples of what is sure to come from these Texas miscreants. Mark of The Beast: II, is a destructively elegant blend of melody, epic symphonies, and pure heavy-fucking-metal. No titles, no genre defining cliques or facades. No bullshit image. Just a message, and music. The way it should be. This band delivers on all fronts. From the gut wrenching roars, and devilish themes spewed by vocalist Jason Willett, to the finger melting string work displayed by guitarists Matt Fiddes and Ryan Trent, Sparrows is sure to quench your thirst for the extreme and, leave you begging for more!
