Sueños Festival 2022 finishes day 2 with powerhouses J.Balvin, Wisin y Yandel, Sech, and more (Show Review English & Spanish)

On a very hot Sunday around 50,000 people packed into Grant Park for final day of the first, and hopefully annual, Sueños Festival. With some of the biggest names in Latin music gracing day 2 fans were in for day full of singing, dancing, and sweating under the hot Memorial Day weekend Chicago sun.

Puerto Rican R&B Reggaetón artist Lyanno was one of the first artists to kick the day off with some great fan fare. With a much larger crowd earlier on than the previous day it just gave Lyanno more to work with from the crowd who clearly knew who he was. With his newest release “El Cambio” coming out this year it was clear to see that Lyanno will be a name that in coming years could be closing out stages instead of opening them.

Fuerza Regida brought something different to the table being the only act of the weekend with a massive backing band featuring 15+ people easily. The crowd reception to them was great but the heat was clearly taking effect for people. DJ Luian was also a name that got some time as more than just a start of the day opener. Known for working with artists like Don Omar and Bad Bunny, he got the crowd singing and dancing in masses.

One of the most anticipated acts though it seemed all weekend was Panamanian singer Sech. Drawing a crowd longer than you could see it made sense to have him based on his 2019 album “Sueños” alone. Known as one of the leading remix artists in the game the crowd lost their mind during hits like “Loco Contigo” and “Otro Trago”. Rocking out a bit before dropping it on the crowd during “Ignorantes” Sech gave fans a small break to soak it in before dancing again.

You really have to look and applaud Sueños Festival for how they closed out the festival though. With a one two punch of Wisin y Yandel and J Balvin it was a night of legends. Puerto Rican reggaeton legends Wisin y Yandel proved why they are the legends on this festival blasting through a set of fan favorites with ease. The duo who announced earlier this year that they would be retiring after this years world tour and final album gave fans one last chance to go crazy for them. Thankfully if you want to you can catch them this fall in Rosemont as well for their final IL show.

J Balvin making his festival return to Chicago with his last appearance being 2019s Lollapalooza where he was the first Latin artist headliner ever. He made sure to top that performance though kicking his set off with “Mi Gente” and spending the rest of his hour feeding off the crowds energy and dancing around to wild applause. Ending the night with some slower jams to give everyone one last dance between bringing it all out with a firework display J Balvin didn’t just have the honor of ending the night but also ending the festival. With a fantastic two days celebrating Latin music and everything with it I can only hope and wait to see what they can do next year to make it even bigger and better.

En un domingo muy caluroso, alrededor de 50.000 personas abarrotaron el Grant Park para el último día del primer, y espero que anual, Festival de los Sueños. Con algunos de los nombres más importantes de la música latina en el segundo día, los fans tuvieron un día lleno de cantos, bailes y sudor bajo el sol del fin de semana del Memorial Day en Chicago.

El artista puertorriqueño de R&B Reggaetón Lyanno fue uno de los primeros artistas en iniciar el día con un gran espectáculo para los fans. Con un público mucho más numeroso que el día anterior, Lyanno tuvo más trabajo con el público que claramente sabía quién era. Con su nuevo lanzamiento “El Cambio”, que saldrá este año, está claro que Lyanno será un nombre que en los próximos años podría cerrar los escenarios en lugar de abrirlos.

Fuerza Regida trajo algo diferente a la mesa siendo el único acto del fin de semana con una banda de apoyo masiva con más de 15 personas fácilmente. La recepción del público fue muy buena, pero el calor estaba claramente haciendo efecto en la gente. DJ Luian también fue un nombre que tuvo algo de tiempo como algo más que un comienzo del día. Conocido por trabajar con artistas como Don Omar y Bad Bunny, hizo que el público cantara y bailara en masa.

Sin embargo, uno de los actos más esperados durante todo el fin de semana fue el cantante panameño Sech. Atrayendo a una multitud más larga de lo que se podía ver, tenía sentido tenerlo sólo por su álbum de 2019 “Sueños”. Conocido como uno de los principales artistas de remezclas en el juego la multitud perdió la cabeza durante éxitos como “Loco Contigo” y “Otro Trago”. Rockeando un poco antes de dejarlo caer sobre la multitud durante “Ignorantes” Sech dio a los fans un pequeño descanso para empaparse antes de bailar de nuevo.

Sin embargo, hay que ver y aplaudir a Sueños Festival por cómo cerraron el festival. Con un uno dos de Wisin y Yandel y J Balvin fue una noche de leyendas. Las leyendas del reggaetón puertorriqueño, Wisin y Yandel, demostraron por qué son las leyendas de este festival, con una serie de canciones favoritas de los fans. El dúo, que anunció a principios de este año que se retiraría después de la gira mundial de este año y el último álbum, dio a los fans una última oportunidad de volverse locos por ellos. Afortunadamente, si quieres puedes verlos este otoño en Rosemont también para su último show de IL.

J Balvin hace su regreso al festival de Chicago con su última aparición en Lollapalooza en 2019, donde fue el primer artista latino como cabeza de cartel. Se aseguró de superar esa actuación, sin embargo, iniciando su set con “Mi Gente” y pasando el resto de su hora alimentando la energía de la multitud y bailando alrededor de los aplausos salvajes. Para terminar la noche con algunos temas más lentos, J Balvin ofreció un último baile entre los fuegos artificiales, y no sólo tuvo el honor de terminar la noche, sino también el festival. Con dos días fantásticos celebrando la música latina y todo lo que conlleva, sólo puedo esperar a ver lo que pueden hacer el próximo año para hacerlo aún más grande y mejor.
