At the end of 2023, Matyrker released their debut album. Formed by Matt McDonnell but now a full-fledged project with collaborating members, Matyrker showcased a diverse amount of styles on 2023’s Momentum. While rooted in progressive metal (Textures is probably a good musical reference), there’s songs here that hint at something slightly more accessible.
Of course, not every song makes the cut to get released on an album, and that’s exactly the case with new single, “The Loathsome Thing”. It’s literally a B-side that was intended for release on Momentum, and while it doesn’t stray too far from the path forged on Momentum, it does fit alongside that album’s general vibe. Give it a spin below, along with the album Momentum in its entirety.
