Originally formed as a solo project by Matt McDonnell (and now a full-fledged band), Minnesota’s Matyrker have ended 2023 with a bang. A loud one, as heard on their sophomore full-length, Momentum. Clocking in at just under an hour long, the record expands on the band’s progressive metal framework, while also adding in interesting influences (like on the more accessible “Inertia”, for instance).
The record, which dropped at the very beginning of December, checks in at 11 tracks – but we’ll call to your attention their two music videos for the aforementioned “Inertia”, as well as “Desolation”. Both are good introductions to Matyrker, displaying their technical musicianship in a tidy package. You can give those a watch below.
