Let’s Talk Wrestling : WWE NXT 2.0 War Games 2021 (Review)

WWE NXT 2.0

War Games

Orlando, FL

Dec. 5th, 2021

WarGames Eight Man Tag Team Match
Dakota Kai & Toxic Attraction (Gigi Dolin, Jacy Jayne & Mandy Rose) vs. Cora Jade, Io Shirai, Kay Lee Ray & Raquel Gonzalez

A really good War Games match and opener. Slower to start but built up some good story telling with Cora Jade during it. A lot of fun spots and most of the women came out looking great. At times it started to drag some but they were quickly always able to pick the pace back up.

4 / 5

WWE NXT Tag Team Title Match
Imperium (Fabian Aichner & Marcel Barthel) (c) vs. Kyle O’Reilly & Von Wagner

A phenomenal tag match. Both teams gave it their all with the story of fighting till the end for those tag belts. Imperium looked like a million dollars showing a fantastic mix of strength and agility high flyer-ship when needed. O’Reilly always looks good but Von Wagner was fantastic here and has a great career coming his way. This was a match to be watched by all for sure.

4.5 / 5

Hair Vs. Hair Match
Cameron Grimes vs. Duke Hudson

A hair for hair match stipulation and a generic match. Even at ten minutes it felt like it went on too long. Nothing wrong with either guy and they seemed to do the best possible it just felt like a mediocre match.

2 / 5

WWE NXT Cruiserweight Title Match
Roderick Strong (w/Brutus Creed, Hachiman, Ivy Nile, Julius Creed & Malcolm Bivens) (c) vs. Joe Gacy (w/Harland)

Another fine but ultimately forgetful. Gacy was fine here but pandering outside the ring and taking the match slower just didn’t help at all. Strong was good here too but just bland. The match itself just did nothing for me.

2 / 5

WarGames Eight Man Tag Team Match
Team 2.0 (Bron Breakker, Carmelo Hayes, Grayson Waller & Tony D’Angelo) (w/Trick Williams) vs. Team Black And Gold (Johnny Gargano, LA Knight, Pete Dunne & Tommaso Ciampa)

A fun long drawn out Wargames match between NXT 2.0 vs the old NXT. It had its slow moments but more so kept going spot to spot pretty nicely. The NXT 2.0 guys here looked good although none truly stood out in the way the older NXT did. It felt almost at times that they were carrying the NXT 2.0 guys. Overall though a fun match with some great moments.
