Legendary label UNFD celebrates 10 year anniversary

Ever since I started listening to heavy music, I’ve kept a keen eye on what label my favorite bands belong to. It’s a perfect way to discover like-minded, similar powerhouses in the genre. Labels like Rise, Pure Noise, and Sharptone have had illustrious alumni, but the label I’ve followed religiously in recent years is UNFD.

Based in Melbourne, Australia, the label aggregates some of the best in the business. They’re home to Aussie acts like In Hearts Wake, Hands Like Houses, Thornhill, and more, and house international artists on a high level such as Like Moths to Flames, Silverstein, and Stray from the Path.

UNFD got its start during a rebrand from Boomtown Records, and has been with bands like Northlane and The Amity Affliction for the majority of their careers. Recent acquisitions for the label include ERRA, who released their self-titled album to massive critical acclaim.

The label is celebrating 10 in a few ways. They’ve announced a re-pressing for 10 of their discography’s vinyl in an eco-friendly packaging: “each record re-press is made using recycled materials with no plastic shrink wrap, while the pressing process itself was carbon offset.”

In addition, UNFD is launching their own official podcast, starting with an introductory episode with the label’s general manager Luke Logemann. There’ll certainly be some interesting stories on some of the biggest releases the scene saw in the past decade.

Congrats on 10, UNFD! Here’s to 10 more with consistently awesome music.
