GCW – Ride Or Die (06.23.2023) (Wrestling Review)

GCW

Ride Or Die

Chicago, IL

June 23rd, 2023

Tag Team Match
Alec Price & Cole Radrick vs. Bang Bros (August Matthews & Davey Bang)

A decent opening match. Some good moves but an unexpected win.

2.75 / 5

Singles Match
Arez vs. Jack Cartwheel

Two really good spot guys here. A lot of big moves and the crowd was into this.

3.25 / 5

Singles Match
LuFisto vs. Robert Anthony

Egos pre match promo was great. This was a solid match even if Ego should have won personally and LuFisto isn’t close to Egos size so this match up was odd on paper alone.

2.75 / 5

JCW Title Match
Jordan Oliver (c) vs. Komander

Still not a fan of Oliver at all but this was a solid match. Felt a little laid back compared to what we know Komandar could do though.

2.75 / 5

Six Man Tag Team Match
1 Called Manders & The Rejects (John Wayne Murdoch & Reed Bentley) vs. Los Macizos (Ciclope & Miedo Xtremo) & Rina Yamashita

Honestly this wasn’t that great. Thalia Hall doesn’t allow glass so this was an 8 minute very light and generic hardcore match with no blood.

1.5 / 5

Six Way Scramble Match
Jimmy Lloyd vs. Bobby Flaco vs. Kenzie Paige vs. Starboy Charlie vs. Hunter Drake vs. Terry Yaki

A solid scramble match. Bit odd to make 2/3rd of the people in it unknown by the crowd but its going towards their GCW vs New South PPV. Some good moves here and everyone impressed me.

3 / 5

Tag Team Match
Joey Janela & Sawyer Wreck vs. BUSSY (Allie Katch & Effy)

What a horribly botched ending. This was fine but just too long for what it was.

2.75 / 5

Singles Match
Metalik vs. El Hijo del Vikingo

Vikingo messed up a spot and might have hurt his leg some but then went right away to pulling off an even more insane move. His move set is insane to see even if he does them every match. This was fun once it got going. It wasn’t the nonstop spot fest you’d expect but the ending was atrocious. I get it was likely to save both guys from someone having to lose and giving Blake Christian heat but man what a way to ruin a match.

3.5 / 5

GCW World Title Match
Blake Christian (c) vs. Gringo Loco

This was a fine match. Gringo Loco as a Chicago guy was super over. Didn’t care much for the end though with the fake finish and match restarting.
