Bring Me The Horizon and Ed Sheeran’s studio version of “Bad Habits” could break major streaming records

While the collaboration certainly had a few dissenters (many of which are simply gatekeepers that don’t want people outside of their circle to discover the rock and metal bands they love), the reaction to Bring Me The Horizon joining pop megastar Ed Sheeran for a live version of his song “Bad Habits” met with swift and immediate reaction across the Internet. And not just from the sections of the scene you’d expect – the version, performed at the 2022 BRIT Awards, was a trending topic on Twitter for a couple days.

Now it appears that more of these gatekeepers will be even more upset to find out the two are releasing a studio version of “Bad Habits”, out in less than 48 hours. In fact, the song has a major chance to break some streaming records for Bring Me The Horizon especially. Not afraid of collaborations with any band or musician you can think of, the band’s highest-streamed song on Spotify clocks in at 327 million streams. For those who can guess, it’s “Can You Feel My Heart” off their 2013 album Sandpit Turtle, which still continues to see viral success through TikTok today. That may seem like a lot (it is), but Ed Sheeran’s star power is absolutely bonkers. He has multiple songs with over a billion Spotify streams, including megahit “Shape Of You”, which is over 3 billion. The original version of “Bad Habits” alone has over 900 billion streams, so when you combine the star power of Sheeran, Bring Me The Horizon’s audience checking the song out, and Sheeran (and the greater pop audience at large) himself, it would not be a surprise to see the song become one of the most-talked about collaborations of 2022. Only time will tell, of course.
