The crossover you probably weren’t thinking about? Bring Me The Horizon and Ed Sheeran performing “Bad Habits” at the 2022 Brit Awards. Scene has officially infiltrated the mainstream, and we’re absolutely here for it. But on a more serious note, the event speaks to Bring Me The Horizon’s success in their home country (and beyond, as well), and at this point it’s not like BMTH are a pop band or anything. If anything, they’re a band that does whatever they want.
With a couple notable exceptions, the crossover event has received mostly positive reception from even most media outlets, which is a surprise considering most rock and metal publications and critics don’t often take kindly to pop music in their heavy. It’s also good for the music scene, as anytime rock and metal acts can cross over to a mainstream audience, it lifts everyone else up. As the saying goes, “a rising tide raises all ships.”
