Linkin Park’s Meteora-era new single “Lost” has been one of the biggest new songs of the past couple weeks – in any genre of music. Racking up 21.5 million streams on Spotify alone in the 10+ days since its initial release, the song has garnered so many reactions and responses from across the musical world that it’s mind-boggling, really. Except maybe not. This is, after all, a band that transcends generations and has sold tens of millions of albums worldwide.
It’s left quite the impression, needless to say. As Loudwire noted, the song was the first song to debut at #1 on Billboard’s Rock & Alternative Airplay chart in over a decade. In fact, even around the world, the song was neck and neck with a new song from Depeche Mode, the band’s newest material since the passing of Andy Fletcher.
Similar events have happened for Linkin Park in the past, of course. “The Catalyst” (2010), “Lost In The Echo” (2012), and “Until It’s Gone” (2014) all achieved similar success right out of the jump, as all three of these singles were extremely anticipated by the listening public.
