We’re stoked to be bringing you yet another heavy band on a Monday. Whether or not you’ve heard of California metallic hardcore newcomers Arcline is more or less irrelevant. Once you’re heard their new single “Johnny Cage”, though, we think you’ll be convinced they’re the real deal. We’ll be brief. If you love any of the metallic/thrash/hardcore bands on the Upstate Records roster, you know, bands that might he similar to Madball, Hoods, Leeway, and most other thrash-influenced hardcore bands, you’re going to love this one.
Even better is that their upcoming EP was produced by Taylor Young, who’s a member of Twitching Tongues, and way too many other bands to name in terms of production (True Love, Criminal Instinct, etc). Good stuff. Fans of this style will certainly be intrigued by their new EP and what Arcline have going on, to be sure.
Hailing from the Los Angeles hardcore scene, ARCLINE has a new look heading into their future. Marty (HOODS), has assembled a team of “A” players as a complete and powerful force to be reckon with in the hardcore scene. With Marty on taking on lead vocals, he recruited Ivan Hernandez and Gabriel Batista (TAKE VENGEANCE) on bass and guitar, and then added guitarist Drake Duncan and drummer Derek Jerome to round out this five-piece juggernaut.
“These new songs are fueled with emotion and rage inspired by true events of modern relationships. “Gateway Drugs” is hard, energetic and in your face. Arcline has a love for hardcore, a love for Los Angeles and is ready to rep for both in 2019 and beyond”, proclaims Marty.
Arcline completed their new EP with Taylor Young at The Pit Recording Studio in Van Nuys, CA in May of 2019. Close friend Ricky Trigga (Lionheart) contacted Upstate Records on behalf of the band. Mario Cangemi, Upstate Records recalls, “When I first heard the song “Scorpion”, I knew immediately I needed to hear more from this band. Shortly thereafter, I was able to catch Marty on tour with Hoods, met him out in the parking lot, we shook hands and sealed the deal”.
“Gateway Drugs’ contains four new original songs along with a surprise cover that pays homage to one of the legendary NYHC originators, Warzone. “Gateway Drugs” will be released by Upstate Records on November 1st, 2019.
