This Day In Music History: January 23rd, 2007 – A Skylit Drive emerges with debut EP, ‘She Watched The Sky’

The MySpace era gave birth to some of the scene’s most prominent bands who also were some of the first to majorly benefit from a widespread use of social media. Especially when it came to MySpace, there were few better networking tools for developing musicians, as its ease of access and communicating with their fanbases helped ensure fans could, in turn, get closer access to their favorite musicians than ever before (for better or for worse). Bands like My Chemical Romance, Bring Me The Horizon, Attack Attack!, and A Skylit Drive garnered much of their early fanbase through MySpace (and the benefit that its networking capabilities provided).

Of course, not every band or musician who garnered a fanbase had the same story. For A Skylit Drive, She Watched The Sky was a highly-touted and hyped debut EP that had the scene talking. Managing to stand out amongst a glut of post-hardcore groups at the time, it was the only release from the band to feature talented late vocalist Jordan Blake.
