Tears For Fears’ iconic “Everybody Wants To Rule The World” has now reached one billion Spotify streams

Other then Depeche Mode, New Order, and a select few others, few groups defined the ’80s synthpop and new wave scenes quite like Tears For Fears. With some of the most iconic songs of the era, it was 1985’s Songs From The Big Chair that made the band’s popularity explode on both sides of the Atlantic. Selling over 5 million copies in the USA alone and over 9 million worldwide, the record featured 5 massive singles over its 8 track length, but none were bigger than both “Shout” and “Everybody Wants To Rule The World”. Both two of the most definitive songs of the decade, the latter has now reached a staggering milestone.

“Everybody Wants To Rule The World” has now reached one BILLION Spotify streams, a rare feat for any song, but especially from the ’80s decade. What’s even more interesting is that the song is 4:11, which obviously makes it a little more impressive than a typical song that’s around the 3-minute mark. Obviously. Yeah. The entire record, of course, is well worth listening to as well.
