We’ve been stoked on the upcoming album from Detroit hip-hop-meets-hardcore super duo Suicide Kings (Joey Knuckles and Cole “The God” Young) since debuting its first single “Lobster Claws” a few months back. If you’re looking for raw, hard as nails hip hop that doesn’t shy away from telling a story, look no further than the Kings new album Ceremonia to get your fix. Coming off years of sharing the stage with the likes of Mobb Deep, Vinnie Paz, Ill Bill, Inspecta Deck, The Demigdoz and more, their fourth studio album is their strongest yet and shows the group at the pinnacle of their lyrical output; despite writing the album mostly in isolation.
“The writing process for this record was different from previous albums, seeing as I was back in Detroit and Cole was still in Canada. That didn’t seem to challenge us as this turned out to be my favorite Suicide Kings material we’ve done thus far, stepping outside of our usual sound with tracks like Lobster Claws and Go Outside featuring Guilty Simpson. Throw in that original Suicide Kings flair and you have our new EP.” Joey Knuckles (MC)
We can’t recommend Ceremonia enough – don’t take our word for it though, head over to Spotify and stream the whole damn album RIGHT NOW!
