Simple Plan emerged at the turn of the new millennium, right alongside bands like Sum 41 and New Found Glory. One of the biggest pop-punk bands ever to emerge from Canada, they did indeed have a lot of success – and still do currently, as they played Warped Tour multiple times and are still a sizable concert draw. They even recorded the theme song for “What’s New, Scooby-Doo?”. Pretty awesome.
Anyway, the band’s early catalogue is still (obviously) their most popular. With appearances from Good Charlotte’s Joel Madden and Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus both appearing on their 2002 debut album, it’s still a fan favorite for a reason. Now, according to the RIAA, all three singles have been certified Gold or Platinum (the latter in the case of “Perfect”). This denotes sales in the USA of 500k and one million copies, respectively. Congrats!
