Ring Of Honor – Supercard Of Honor (03.31.2023) (Wrestling Review)

Ring Of Honor

Supercard Of Honor

Los Angeles, California

March 31st, 2023

AAA Mega Title Match
El Hijo del Vikingo (c) vs. Komander

A nonstop spot fest and thats what everyone wanted. Two of the best guys at it right now doing insane spots that make it look so simple.

4.5 / 5

ROH World Six Man Tag Team Title Match
The Embassy (Bishop Kaun, Brian Cage & Toa Liona) (w/Prince Nana) (c) vs. AR Fox, Blake Christian & Metalik

An entertaining match but somewhat useless. Clearly Embassy was winning as they faced a team randomly thrown together. They just don’t have great chemistry together as a team and there’s no legit threat for the trios belts in ROH against them.

3 / 5

ROH Women’s World Title Match
Athena (c) vs. Yuka Sakazaki

Athena as a heel champ has been working great for her in AEW. Sakazaki looked really good here too with some close fall moments. It will be interesting to see who comes for the belt next.

3.25 / 5

ROH World Television Title Match
Samoa Joe (c) vs. Mark Briscoe

A tough match given the clear thought was Briscoe wins the belt finally given his run for it and what has happened. Joe kept it though keeping his reign going over a year. Really good match with two vets here and some good close falls.

3.5 / 5

Singles Match
Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Daniel Garcia

A solid match but I never felt Garcia had a chance. Tanahashi isn’t losing this and this was more just for him to wrestle here. It was a good match though and Garcia held his own well.

3 / 5

ROH World Tag Team Title Reach For The Sky Ladder Match (vakant)
Top Flight (Dante Martin & Darius Martin) vs. The Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) (w/Maria Kanellis-Bennett) vs. The Lucha Brothers (Penta El Zero Miedo & Rey Fenix) (w/Alex Abrahantes) vs. Aussie Open (Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis) vs. La Faccion Ingobernable (Dralistico & Rush) (w/Jose The Assistant)

A really good match that sadly will be outshined by the injury at the end of the match and how visible it was. Otherwise this was a great ladder match with a lot of big spots and action. Matches like this you have to leave your brain off when guys leave their spot to get the belts to do a big spot instead. It was a fun match though with an unfortunate ending.

4 / 5

ROH Pure Title Match
Wheeler Yuta (c) vs. Katsuyori Shibata

This was a fine match but just lackluster. Shibata is good but his style here just didn’t work great in the match and I wasn’t a fan of the finish. Its great to see him in a ring though but I hope they can make his matches as new champ a bit better.

2.5 / 5

ROH World Title Match
Claudio Castagnoli (c) vs. Eddie Kingston

Kingston should have won plain and simple. He was super over and this was his time. Claudio could have went on and stayed in ROH or went back to AEW and been fine. The match was good and had its close falls. I guess the finish here helps Eddie look good still and continues this feud for some reason.
