NOAH – Great Muta Final Bye Bye (01.22.2023) (Wrestling Review)

NOAH

Great Muta Final “Bye Bye”

Yokohama, Japan

Jan. 22nd, 2023

Tag Team Match
Atsushi Kotoge & Seiki Yoshioka vs. Kongo (Hajime Ohara & Hi69)

A fun and nonstop action opener. Really liked everyone in here and some of the spots they had. It stayed short enough to not overstay itself or become boring.

Tag Team Match
Maya Yukihi & Natsu Sumire vs. Jungle Kyona & Saori Anou

A woman’s match in NOAH is rarer. I liked that they got 15 minutes and used it for a pretty nonstop action match. Some good spots here and some great hits. Hopefully there is more of this to come.

Singles Match
Masaaki Mochizuki vs. Timothy Thatcher

A shorter match here which meant we got a fast paced technical match. It worked here really well and showed off both guys. Thatcher is fantastic because he is so technical while looking like a complete monster still.

Six Man Tag Team Match
Eita, NOSAWA Rongai & Yoshinari Ogawa vs. Alejandro, Junta Miyawaki & Yasutaka Yano

A short match that kept the action going but didn’t do much for anything. Ending the match this way was fine and chasing them out of the arena worked.

Six Man Tag Team Match
Daiki Inaba, Masa Kitamiya & Yoshiki Inamura vs. GLG (Anthony Greene, Jack Morris & Jake Lee)

Full of newer guys here so this is one to watch for the future. Another good match with some good spots here. It just didn’t do anything special for me and being put into the middle of the card likely didn’t help it either.

2.5 / 5

GHC Martial Arts Rules Match
Kazushi Sakuraba vs. Hideki Suzuki (w/Timothy Thatcher)

This was a Martial Arts Rules match which seems similar to ROH Pure Rules except they use yellow cards and there’s no rope breaks at all. This was okay. Not really my favorite type of match as its an extremely slow technical submission based match.

2 / 5

Six Man Tag Team Match
AMAKUSA, Ninja Mack & Ultimo Dragon (w/Sonny Onoo) vs. Dante Leon, Kzy & YO-HEY

A fun mix of new and legendary. Ultimo moves great for his ring and his teasing a dive went great with the crowd. Mack and Dante move so fast and flawless and there was a lot of fun spots here.

3.5 / 5

Eight Man Tag Team Match
El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr., Kaito Kiyomiya, Satoshi Kojima & Takashi Sugiura vs. Kongo (Katsuhiko Nakajima, Kenoh, Manabu Soya & Masakatsu Funaki

I get the legendary aspect of some these men in this match but this personally dragged on. It had its moments but the pacing was horrible and it just felt like forever at even 20 minutes long.

1.5 / 5

Six Man Tag Team Match
AKIRA, Hakushi & Naomichi Marufuji vs. Darby Allin, Great Muta & Sting

The entrances to this took forever. This was a slower match overall with the bigger spots built into it which made sense given the general age of most of the guys here. Would be cool to see Darby back in NOAH as this was his first match in Japan. This was a good send off for Muta to close off a rivalry, have a long time friend return, and close off his time in NOAH.
