G1 Climax 2023 Block B Match
El Phantasmo vs. YOSHI-HASHI

A very lackluster opening. Nothing wrong here but the match wasn’t anything special and even the crowd didn’t seem to care much.

G1 Climax 2023 Block A Match
Chase Owens vs. Gabe Kidd

This was a fine brawl before the match and the dive was great. Once it got in ring and started, not so great.

G1 Climax 2023 Block B Match
KENTA vs. Tanga Loa (w/Jado)

God was this slow and boring. It also vastly overstayed its welcome.

G1 Climax 2023 Block A Match
Shota Umino vs. Ren Narita

20 minute draw here worked great. Meant they had a fast action packed match that didn’t need moments to kill time like a 30 minute match might have to have. Both guys are hot in NJPW and this was all they needed to shine.

4 / 5

G1 Climax 2023 Block B Match
Kazuchika Okada vs. Great-O-Khan

A fine match but never a great one. O-Khan got to dominate mostly and Okada got to be crafty for that win out of nowhere.

2.75 / 5

G1 Climax 2023 Block A Match
Kaito Kiyomiya vs. Yota Tsuji

Nonstop action from the very start. This was another match of two guys really putting it out there. A lot of good spots and some good selling throughout.

3.5 / 5

G1 Climax 2023 Block B Match
Taichi vs. Will Ospreay

I really liked the story here. Ospreay getting an ear injury that affected his move set was great and a good way for him to lose this match without it being too bad for him.

3.5 / 5

G1 Climax 2023 Block A Match
SANADA vs. Hikuleo (w/Jado)

What a boring match honestly. Sanada as champ isn’t doing anything for me and this as main event shouldn’t have happened.

1.5 / 5
