Linkin Park have scored their first-ever RIAA Diamond single with “In The End”

Linkin Park’s debut album Hybrid Theory changed the music scene forever, to be blunt. It turned nu-metal into the biggest sub-genre in rock and metal, and made Linkin Park go from small clubs to arena-headlining status within 18 months of its release. It was the perfect distillation of rock, hip-hop, and electronic influences, all with huge pop songwriting in mind. Palatable and relatable for both youth and adults in equal measure, it introduced the explosive talent of Chester Bennington, Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Rob Bourdon, and Mr. Hahn to the world. “In The End” was a big part of that, with the video for the song remaining iconic to anyone growing up around that era (and even some newcomers to the band).

Released in 2000 on their Diamond-selling album Hybrid Theory, the song has now been certified Diamond, denoting sales of over 10 million copies. One of their most popular songs as well as one of their most commercially successful, it became a pop music crossover success as well – nearly becoming the biggest song in the USA at the peak of its popularity.
