The First Great Hardcore Record of 2015?

Turnstile-Nonstop-Feeling-cover

It’s records like Turnstile’s full-length debut album Nonstop Feeling that make me believe in what hardcore has to offer in 2015. Read on for my brief thoughts on the album.

More groove-oriented and accessible than their harsher peers, it’s pretty clear who some of Turnstile’s influences are – 90’s bands like Life Of Agony, Biohazard, Helmet, Unsane, and plenty of others. The main thing that makes Nonstop Feeling successful is the high amount of diversity found here. Sure, there’s mostly straight-forward tracks of hardcore-oriented tracks like “Bad Wave” and “Drop”, but then you have a track like “Blue By You”, which is an insanely catchy pop-punk song. I wasn’t expecting Turnstile to pull off a song like that, but they definitely won me over.

Diversity is the key to this record. It’s less about lyrics and more about feeling (a nonstop one?). They’re also headlining a tour with Superheaven and Fire and Ice pretty soon, and seeing these songs played live is going to be awesome.

If you’re into groove-laden hardcore music that’s both accessible and energetic, you’re going to want this record. Preorder it right here. 2015 is off to a tremendous start, especially in the hardcore scene. I can’t deny it.
