Eighteen Visions revisit their landmark ‘Vanity’ album with a 20th anniversary celebration

Eighteen Visions have always been one step ahead of the curve when it comes to pioneering many of the traits we see in metalcore today. The band’s early material, especially 2000’s Until The Ink Runs Out, cemented the OC band as underground favorites. Unlike most bands of the time that would wear cargo shorts and generally echoed a lot of nu-metal fashion at the time, Eighteen Visions made statements by playing some of the heaviest metalcore you could find in the scene (pretty close to deathcore, actually), and looked good while doing it. This in turn inspired future bands from the likes of Attack Attack! and Asking Alexandria in fashion, and still rings true today.

Their 2002 album Vanity expanded their fanbase exponentially, with more singing compared to their previous work and even a guest appearance by Killswitch Engage’s Howard Jones on “One Hell Of A Prize Fighter”. Considering their resurgence after a reunion back in 2017 (where their most recent full-length album, XVIII, was released), it makes sense for the band to revisit Vanity for a 20th anniversary tour. And that’s exactly what they’re doing. Along for the ride, fittingly, are END, SeeYouSpaceCowboy, Wristmeetrazor, and Chamber – four bands that were inspired in some way by the sound Eighteen Visions helped pioneer.
