Buckcherry and company bring the rock to Des Plaines Theatre (Show Review)

On a rainy and cold Friday night, Buckcherry and company warmed up the Des Plaines Theatre for an evening of hard rock hits and good times.

Kicking off the show straight off a drive from Canada was Sumo Cyco. With a high energy brand of hard rock, they were the right choice to start the evening. Frontwoman Skye Sweetnam a few songs and even ran off stage into the lobby / bar of the venue to get people to come inside for the music. They made fans of the crowd that were there with a nonstop energetic show. Featuring a System Of A Down cover, the band made their first show back since COVID a memorable one.

Blacktop Mojo is a band that has been climbing the ranks of hard rock for a while now due to their great live show and catchy tunes, and tonight showed why. Now performing as a 5 piece the band played their brand of Southern hard rock to perfection. Clearly enjoying the crowd and being on stage, it made the crowd give the energy back tenfold to the band. Vocalist Matt James commands the stage as well with a gentle presence backed with a massive voice. Featuring songs from their catalog including 2021’s self-titled release, the band played a tight but quick set. The fans in attendance likely can’t wait to see what they can bring on their next headliner, though.

Closing out the night were the band of the evening, Buckcherry. Hot off of their 2021 release Hellbound, Josh Todd and company rocked the crowd of diehards with a set of rock hits. Singing along to every song, the band blew through a set of hits with some deeper cuts in there, while making sure to give fans everything they wanted. Being all smiles on stage the band was happy to be in Des Plaines as they constantly moved around the stage playing not only with the fans but with each others. It’s always nice to see when bands communicate and play around on stage with each other, making it clear they love what they are doing.

This tour just kicked off so if you’re a diehard, a mild fan, or just someone who wants a night out, you can’t go wrong with this 3 band run.
