What you need to know about the new Architects single is this: it’s got an industrial and electronic influence that has popped up in their overall sound somewhat recently. “Tear Gas” is also the first single released ahead of their 10th studio album – just a year and change after FTWWTE made the band superstars.
On the new album, drummer/songwriter Dan Searle says:
“This one feels more live, more exciting and more fun – it has that energy.” with frontman Sam Carter chiming in with “We wanted it to be a lot more industrial and electronic.”
In short, Architects are continuing to pursue a more commercial direction that appeals to the masses. After so many years slugging it out in small (but growing) venues, no one can say the success isn’t deserved, to say the least.
