Thanks to ‘Stranger Things’, Metallica’s “Master Of Puppets” is the only metal song on Billboard’s Hot 100 right now

Currently being embraced yet again by a massive audience, Metallica’s “Master Of Puppets” is actually more popular than the song has ever been, at least when you have handy Billboard charts to go by.

Much like Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” (which is at an insane #4 on the same list), “Master Of Puppets” now owns the #40 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 – a list of the 100 biggest songs in the USA right now. In fact, the song is the only hard rock or metal song on the list right now, which is pretty incredible for a number of reasons.

As Metallica said themselves about the appearance of the song on Stranger Things Season 4…

“The way The Duffer Brothers have incorporated music into Stranger Things has always been next level, so we were beyond psyched for them to not only include “Master of Puppets” in the show but to have such a pivotal scene built around it. We were all stoked to see the final result and when we did we were totally blown away… it’s so extremely well done, so much so, that some folks were able to guess the song just by seeing a few seconds of Joseph Quinn’s hands in the trailer!! How crazy cool is that?

It’s an incredible honor to be such a big part of Eddie’s journey and to once again be keeping company with all of the other amazing artists featured in the show.”
