AEW Dynamite – Episode 131 (04.06.2022) (Wrestling Review)

Boston, Massachusetts

April 6th, 2022

Singles Match
Christian Cage vs. Adam Cole

A fantastic opening match. Christian is such a name that he can help anyone look good beating him and it doesn’t hurt him. This was a great back and forth the entire match with a lot of close calls. Cole having to cheat to beat him worked well and the crowd couldn’t be more red hot behind both men.

Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament Qualifying Match
Samoa Joe vs. Max Caster (w/Anthony Bowens)

Samoa Joes debut for AEW and the crowd loves him. This was a quick and very dominate win for him as it should be.

Singles Match
Shawn Spears vs. Shawn Dean

A squash match with an interference cheap finish. Worked only to further the MJF / Wardlow feud.

Tag Team Tables Match
The Hardys (Jeff Hardy & Matt Hardy) vs. The Butcher And The Blade (The Blade & The Butcher)

A tables match that almost became confusing because just getting put through a table didn’t eliminate you or end the match. Otherwise it was just okay. Hardyz are pretty past their prime and its showed greatly in AEW. Butcher and The Blade did their best here to get the match to work.

Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament Qualifying Match
Hikaru Shida vs. Julia Hart

Very rarely do you get a main roster match in AEW that is genuinely really bad but this is one. It just felt like they were completely off pace the entire match and weren’t aligned at all. Julia is still a little too fresh in a lot of areas and it shows.

ROH World Tag Team Title / AAA World Tag Team Title Match
FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) (c) vs. The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) (w/Brandon Cutler)

What a match from two of the best tag teams. The Bucks slowed down here and it worked out so well. Only a few super kicks and flips and this is a sure fire classic match with fantastic storytelling. FTR continue to be one of the top tag teams in all of pro wrestling as well.
