Based on the success of the nostalgia-fueled When We Were Young Fest in Vegas last month, it’s probably not much of a surprise that it would expand to other genres of music. Case in point, 2023’s Sick New World festival, which has a pretty insane nu-metal vanguard lineup – but also some goth, industrial, and even grunge flavors for extra reasons to go. Seriously, this is stacked. You have relative newcomers like Loathe and Narrow Head, plenty of veterans like Deftones, System Of A Down, Korn, Incubus, and Chevelle, and even Killing Joke + The Sisters Of Mercy. There’s even the insanity of Mr. Bungle. Basically, we’re here for it – but then again, nu-metal never really went away.
