Andy Fletcher, the Depeche Mode co-founding keyboardist who helped form the highly influential synth-pop band in the late ’70s, has passed away at the age of 60. His Depeche Mode bandmates mourned the loss on their social media accounts earlier today.
Appearing on every Depeche Mode album from their inception all the way to 2017’s Spirit, Fletcher’s keyboard work was integral in the band’s emergence as one of synth-pop’s biggest acts. Reaching international acclaim with their album Violator in 1990, the album spawned some of their biggest hits, like “Enjoy The Silence” and “Personal Jesus”. Fletcher was one of three Depeche Mode members to appear on every record the band released, as well.
RIP to one of the greatest.
