Between Lorna Shore getting played at a Detroit Red Wings game and Bring Me The Horizon entering the ears of mainstream audiences with a cover of Ed Sheeran’s “Bad Habits” (with the pop star himself), it’s a good time to be a fan of heavy music. Well, the latter may not be heavy to our ears, but you get the point we’re trying to make.
Anyway, MMA events and wrestling tend to attract similar audiences as fans of rock and metal music, and often of the very heavy kind. You know, death metal. Well, at an AEW Rampage event recently, wrestler Erick Redbeard walked out to Cattle Decapitation’s “Finish Them”. Pretty cool stuff. For those not necessarily in the know, AEW (All Elite Wrestling) was founded just three years ago by billionaire owners Shahid and Tony Khan, who also own the Jacksonville Jagurs and Fulham FC. It’s also considered the second-biggest wrestling promotion behind WWE. So, it’s a pretty big deal. Anything that gives extreme music more attention is going to be a net positive for all involved, so we hope to see more of this instead of more gatekeeping.
That song sounds a little familiar.. @ErickRedBeard makes his way to the ring playing our song, “Finish Them” off of ‘Death Atlas’ tonight on @aew’s Rampage! #AEWRampage pic.twitter.com/UZDoy1jEq6
