Emerging pop-punk band Heartsink return with their most compelling material to date on new EP, ‘Mainspring’

UK pop-punk band Heartsink are doing the thing yet again. Gaining some early traction with popular single “Starting Over” (which is edging toward 15k streams on Spotify), the band has been hard at work on a new EP – which, consequently, is out today.

Mainspring, the band’s new EP, is a fresh yet familiar take on the genre. Realistically, it’s a fairly short EP that doesn’t mess around with anything you’d consider progressive or arty. Not that either of those buzzwords are a bad thing (come on, we worship at the altar of King Crimson and Porcupine Tree FFS), but Heartsink’s penchant for 3-minute songs and bright melodies land them a seat at our table anyway. If you’re looking for a new band in the scene to pay attention to, Heartsink are certainly one to watch. The best tracks here are probably “Keepsake” and “Getting Older”, as their relatable lyricism and intriguing melodies are the ones that keep you coming back for more, but it’s a solid listen the whole way through.
