We had the opportunity to talk to the guys of American Awesome Alliance about band names, Warped Tour, Youtube Comments, I Set My Friends On Fire, and more. It is a pretty awesome interview. Check it out below!
Thank you guys for taking the time to talk to us! How are you doing?
We’re doing great. We’re so glad you’re taking the time to talk to us!
Can you guys tell me about your band name and where it came from?
Well, initially the band was a side project to the drummer and vocalist’s other band. American Awesome Alliance was meant to be an overly patriotic joke band hence the the cheesy name. After some time their main band broke up and AAA became serious. We fully intended on changing the name to something else once we thought of a good one. But once we released our first single, it was too late and the name stuck. It’s a horrible band name, but we embrace it.
So you guys have been hard at work trying to get on Warped Tour, what were some things you tried?
We’ve tried so many things. Besides begging our friends and family to vote for us, we did a cover of “Let It Go” from Disney’s Frozen. We also fleshed out our YouTube channel with high quality content and did a skit specifically addressing the reasons you should vote for us to play Warped Tour (very funny). We’ve also done a couple of T-shirt giveaways and released a brand new single only available on our Warped Tour vote page.
What are some of your favorite comments you’ve received on your videos?
Oh god where do I start?
this is fucking terrible id rather deep throat a shotgun and listen to this I gave it a try but fuck this shit how did seeing a tomb of tomb video get me here
Come up with your own idea for a band, mates. MySpace is dead
If you like this, you are everything that’s wrong with the world. We get so many funny comments that we actually made two videos about them on our YouTube channel.
Can you tell us about Little Man?
Haha. Little Man is our vocalist’s roommate. He’s also a zombie. He used to be a guy named Tommy Vinchinzo (spelled exactly that way) until he died at an unspecified date. He’s also the vocalist of his own band, Sausages For Sale. He’s a dick, but integral to American Awesome Alliance’s success. In reality, our vocalist needed someone to talk to in one of our videos so he grabbed a random Halloween ornament from his attic. Thus, Little Man was born. He’s become really popular.
What are some of your favorite bands on Warped Tour this year?
Enter Shikari, Chunk! No, Captain Chunk!, Beartooth, Four Year Strong
If you could headline any festival, what bands would you have opening for you?
That’s a good question. I mean, if we ever met enough success to have these bands open for us, that’d be awesome. That would be I Set My Friends On Fire, The Bunny The Bear, Enter Shikari, iwrestledabearonce, and Galactic Pegasus. That’s a pipe dream, though. It’d also be great to have some of the bands we know on a personal level like Cold For June, Shout London, Intimidator The Bot, Cutting All Ties, and A Hero’s Fate. We’re all vastly different genre’s, but it still would be sick to play with our pals.
What do you want your fans to take away from your music?
That you can have feels without being a whiny bitch. We want our listeners to have fun, but at the same time be able to relate to whatever the song is about. Whether it’s about a bad relationship or eating breakfast.
If you could put any musician in your band who would it be?
Nabil Moo. His work on ISMFOF’s first album was amazing. The guitar work was consistently catchy and the transitions between the electronic and metal parts were unexpected, yet flowed perfectly.
Are you guys currently working on new music?
We’re always working on new music.
Any shows coming up you’d like to tell us about?
Nothing to announce at the moment, but definitely soon. We’re hoping to make Warped Tour our first show so fingers crossed for that.
So let’s say AAA runs into the guys from One Direction in a bar, what happens next?
We simply say this: Hey dudes are you ready to? Then we stare intensely, awaiting their reply.
Those are all of our questions! Thanks for talking to us! Is there anything else you’d like to say?
Thank you so much for the interview. We’re grateful for this opportunity and really hope some of the people reading this article check us out. We’re more than a band and we want everyone to know that and be a part of it.
To keep up with the band be sure to follow their official Facebook Page.
