There’s a lot to be said about a musician’s debut single. It is, after all, the introduction to an artist – and can easily make or break them right from the start. While we’ve covered her extensively in the last year or so, Clio Cadence was born to be a star. That much is obvious from her solid, metalcore-leaning cover of Billie Eilish’s “You Should See Me In A Crown”, released last year. While Clio has already embarked on tours with Dead Girls Academy, her debut solo song “Drive” is a confident introduction to the world of, well, Clio.
Buoyed by assistance from Alex Asch (Dangerkids) and Michael Vampire (Dead Girls Academy), Cadence’s new single, “Drive”, is a rock solid introduction to what you can expect from her upcoming material. At its core, it’s anthemic alt-rock with a harder edge. As Cadence explains it…
“I wrote this song about a man who “loved me” but his actions spoke louder than his words. One day he decided to shove me onto the STREET. That day, I decided to LET HIM DRIVE AWAY, SIS. Sometimes you have to let go of the toxic person in your life who you think “loves you” to set yourself free.”
