Band: Wolves Like Us
Album: Black Soul Choir
FFO: Quicksand, Drive Like Jehu, Swervedriver, Planes Mistaken For Stars, Deftones
Today’s band is Norwegian post-hardcore band Wolves Like Us. Their 2nd full length for Prosthetic Records is a crunchy post-hardcore/rock album that’s a little harder to get into than most bands of their genre – but they’ll immediately draw comparisons to underrated 90’s bands Quicksand and Swervedriver.
To fully experience this band, you should really listen to the track “Dig With Your Hands”. It’s a deceptively complex song with shifting dynamics and moods. It really would fit alongside Quicksand’s “Manic Compression” album. The one-two punch of “Days Of Ignorance” and “Three Poisons” is also notable, especially given the catchy, rhythmic drumming in both songs (and throughout the album as a whole).
If you’re into music that rocks, but is a little more dynamic, you need this in your life. The future is very bright for them if they keep growing like this.
