If you are a regular watcher of the NFL, you will often hear the commentators talk about explosive plays in the game. Defining the word explosive in the content of the NFL is not easy, but the best way of describing is it when a player does something which creates a huge play. Here is a look at the three players who are arguably the most explosive in the NFL today.
Derrick Henry
No player exemplifies explosiveness in the NFL more than Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry. The 6ft 3in and 247lb man is unstoppable when he gets into full flow on the field, as many defenses in the league have found.

David Montgomery 11.33
Tony Pollard 10.61

Henry was the leading rusher in the league in 2020. He finished the year with 2,027 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns. He was on course for another big season in 2021 before picking up an injury in week eight which ruled him out for the rest of the regular season. The 28-year-old RB can go the distance to the end zone for his team, regardless of where they start their drive. His strength, speed, and intelligence combined make him a player defenses must put so much planning into stopping.
Patrick Mahomes
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes has only been in the NFL for what’s now his 7th season, but he has already established himself as a generational player. The Kansas City Chiefs man was the regular season MVP in 2018, while a season later, he led his side to Super Bowl success. Mahomes can produce passes that no other player in the league can make. He seems to be able to throw from any angle without even looking at the direction of his throw. As most young quarterbacks are today, he is also a dual threat, as he is equally comfortable with his feet.
The former first-round pick will be hoping to secure a second Super Bowl ring this season. The Chiefs are +400 with BetRivers to lift the Vince Lombardi Trophy. T.J. Watt
When it comes to defensive players in the NFL, no one is more explosive than T.J. Watt. He was named the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2021 after recording 22.5 sacks in the regular season, the joint most in a campaign in the history of the league.

Watt finds a way of getting to quarterbacks like no other. For a man who weighs 252lb, he moves very quickly after the snap, bulldozing anybody in his way to get the quarterback.
The 28-year-old is the highest-paid defensive player in the NFL. He has struggled with injuries in 2022, but now he has recovered, expect to see him end the campaign strongly for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
All four players are having a great season this year and should be in contention for some of the leading individual prizes at the 2023 NFL Honors in February.
