Currently, metal band Arch Enemy is being pounded into the ground concerning unfair use and treatment of a photographer, including being banned from covering any future Arch Enemy show. Big YIKES on that whole situation.
Anyway, said situstion has garnered a ton of fire headed their way, and it seems there might be a new target after his comments on the situation. Long-time Whitechapel bassist Gabe Crisp promptly got (and is still getting!) dragged into oblivion with a blatantly ignorant take on how he feels about photographers, responding on Twitter to The PRP’s post sbout the situation.
Unlike what some bands seem to think, photography isn’t as obviously simple as just snapping photos. There’s hours of work involved, and while paid gigs dry up faster than the Sahara, there’s a tremendous amount of preparation and execution involved – to say nothing about claiming music photographers do this for free. Coming from the bass player of a popular band, that’s extremely disappointing. And it’s also not true.

Unsurprisingly, he’s now getting dragged 8 ways to Sunday by just about every photographer with a social media account, and for good reason. We sincerely hope it’s a poor choice of words, and not a sincere feeling, because let’s be real here – photographers are here to make you, the musician, look good. He then doubled down on the status.
A great friend and photographer, @alexmorganimage he was invited used a real camera and he actually let me see the photos to use them. If someone is upset theyre missing the point. Someone who comes and uses their phone to take a few pics for their IG isnt a concert photographer
