TV Shows, Festivals, Tours, & Music. Gorillaz are busier than ever.
In a recent interview with Q Magazine, Jaime Hewlett (co-creator of Gorillaz & the comic Tank Girl) confirmed that there is a 10 episode series in the work for Gorillaz.
The series follows after a failed attempt to launch an animated movie via Dreamworks Animation. Hewlett commented, “It was too dark to spend a couple of hundred million dollars on”.
With the series now in the works, Hewlett said that a lot of fun new things will be coming, such as new artwork, a clothing line, and new tour merchandise.
That’s not all Gorillaz have up their sleeve either.
Their album Humanz is set to release this month. With that comes talk of an extensive tour to follow.
The record is a political statement, according to creator Damon Albarn. Not just about America’s recent election in 2017, but about the world as a whole. Raising questions on just why the world is going to the dogs.
“Let’s make a party record about the world going fucking nuts.” – Damon Albarn
Humanz is set to release on April 28th.
With that, let’s talk festivals.
Demon Dayz festival launches June 10th.
Looking at the official website, Demon Dayz looks completely sold out. This all before the official line-up has even been announced. If you can’t get a ticket & still want to see the show, Redbull TV will be live streaming the whole thing.
For fans outside the UK hoping to catch this festival in person, no worries, Hewlett has confirmed plans to bring Demon Dayz to Chicago.
No date has been announced, but the news alone is enticing.
