On January 16th, 2001, Linkin Park performed on Late Night with Conan O’Brien. The band was 6 days removed from seeing their October 2000 debut album, Hybrid Theory, reach Platinum status – a huge deal for a band that had almost every record label passing on their potential. Except all those labels – minus Warner Bros. – missed out. Rather quickly, the band went from untested potential to releasing one of the top-selling albums of the new millennium, and even faster was the speed at which Linkin Park played bigger stages.
Selling a million records in less than 3 months will get you from clubs to theatres in rather short order, of course, and with each subsequent album, Linkin Park proved they were here to stay. This newly-released video from Linkin Park captures the band at a stage where their biggest growth (Hybrid Theory was THE best-selling album of 2001) was yet to come.
