When the band released Pressure in 2019, Wage War’s fanbase was certainly divided. While not a bad album necessarily, many considered the band’s metalcore sound watered down and commercialized. Not that gaining commercial success is a bad thing, but walking the line between expanding your sound and sticking to your roots is always a tricky situation.
Luckily, Wage War appears to have released what the follow up to 2017’s Deadweight should have been, in their new record out this October. New single “Circle The Drain” embodies that vision quite well – while mostly a melodic song that could fit on Pressure, it could also be found on Deadweight as one of its more accessible tracks. This makes for an easier transition period for the listener.
Don’t take our word for it, though – give the new song a spin below and decide for yourself.
