It appears the 13 year wait for a new album from progressive metal icons Tool is over, at least according to vocalist Maynard James Keenan. Having long pointed to 2019 as the year the band releases a new record, it coincides with a packed 2019 schedule that includes multiple spring and summer festivals, including Welcome To Rockville and Epicenter. Confirming it in a recent Twitter post was Maynard James Keenan, who also mentioned that new Puscifer material is coming in 2020.
The upcoming record, the band’s first since 2006’s 10,000 Days, has been long rumored to be in the making. Even for Tool, whose notoriously long time in between albums is always the source of frustration, the 13 years in between has certainly been a lengthy process. Perhaps a new single might surface before their lengthy run of festival dates?
Update- Final vocals tracked MONTHS ago. Then U.S.-UK-Euro run w #APC. If Tool all inst are tracked, long process of Mixing now. Meanwhile write/film/track w @puscifer for #puscifer2020 & troll the band FBs with wine posts. #funnyshit #whileyouwerewhiningiwasworking
