This Day In Music History: September 16th, 2003 – Story Of The Year explodes with debut album, ‘Page Avenue’

Page Avenue, the debut album from Story Of The Year, was the culmination of years of hard work and songwriting, distilled into one of the bigger albums the scene had to offer in 2003. Helmed by John Feldmann on production, the band’s pop-punk, post-hardcore, and alternative rock influences were fused together in a way that made their songwriting more consistent.

“Anthem Of Our Dying Day”, “Sidewalks”, and signature song “Until The Day I Die” helped the record sell well out of the gate – eventually becoming one of a rare number of post-hardcore bands with a Platinum album. To put into perspective how successful Page Avenue was, the hype surrounding SOTY in 2003 – coupled with a strong increase in their fanbase – enabled them to support Linkin Park’s arena tour the next year. And it’s important to note that it’s not just a few singles and some filler, either. “Razorblades” and “And The Hero Will Drown” showcase the band’s melodic edge that helped Story Of The Year become stars.
