This Day In Music History: September 27th, 2005 – Panic! At The Disco releases debut album, “A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out”

Produced by Matt Squire (who’s also responsible for records by everyone from Underoath to Demi Lovato), Panic! At The Disco’s 2005 debut record A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out was a big success upon its release. Their brand of theatrical pop-rock was both buoyant and catchy, with big choruses helping to disguise some genuinely clever wordplay.

Of course the record, which celebrates its birthday today, still is a fan favorite despite the fact that Panic’s newer material is much more streamlined. Full of fun, theatrical poppy alt-rock jams, it’s not much of a surprise that it was Brendon Urie’s launching point into stardom – but it’s also important not to forget that the band was likely not more musically accomplished than on this record. Lightning in a bottle, as they say.
