This Day In Music History: January 16th, 2012 – Enter Shikari drops the hammer on ‘A Flash Flood Of Colour’

Before they released A Flash Flood Of Colour on January 16th, 2012, Enter Shikari were a pretty established band at that point. Having established themselves straight away with a diverse mixture of post-hardcore and metalcore influences that also threw in electronic, DNB, and dubstep elements prominently, there’s no doubt that Flash Flood was set to become a large step in Enter Shikari’s career.

Unsurprisingly, it was. More than even their previous + groundbreaking Take To The Skies and Common Dreads albums did, describing Flash Flood as “eclectic” is probably putting it mildly. On just about every track, multiple genres are blended together with mostly quite good results, whether it’s the party-oriented juxtaposition of jungle/rave music and heavy guitar riffs on “Ssssnakepit” – or the more political and social themes of “Arguing With Thermometers” and “Gandhi Mate, Gandhi”, Flash Flood continually revels in the fact that it isn’t ever what one would consider boring.
