Many artists can point to a specific moment in time where everything seemed to come together for them. Whether it’s the release of a specific song or album that catapulted them into the spotlight, or a show // tour that signified that they had “made it”, the fact is that moments like this are significant to witness.
There’s little doubt that A Different Shade Of Blue, the sophomore full-length album from Knocked Loose, was a significant milestone in their career. A natural extension of their sound, ADSOB kicks things up to volume 11 in every conceivable fashion. Across the board, there’s obvious influences from death metal and sludge metal – which also make well-placed breakdowns that much more effective.
“Mistakes Like Fractures” obviously took off as the big single here, but the rest of the record is no less effective either. Lyrically, “Guided By The Moon” and “A Serpent’s Touch” (Emma Boster of Dying Wish does NOT miss) prove to be compelling, and one thing about Knocked Loose’s sophomore album is that its energy is undeniable. It might even be a classic already.
