It’s clesr that longevity is in this band’s repertoire. While it’s not necessarily the band’s most successful first-week album debut in their long history (that honor goes to 2014’s Coma Witch, which crashed the charts at #31 overall), The Acacia Strain have nonetheless had an impressive debut with their new album, Slow Decay.
Though many of the songs on the album were released as individual mini-EPs throughout this year, that shouldn’t take away from the fact that a band this heavy ended up debuting at #87 on the Billboard Top 200. And that’s not all. The record, which sees the band exploring doom and post-metal influences in ways their previous material hinted at, also landed a few #1 chart slots – including high placements on the Current Albums chart. It’s rather impressive to say the least, especially considering all that is going on in the world right now.
