Taylor Acorn plays sold out debut Australian show

US pop punk powerhouse, Taylor Acorn brought her Good Enough tour all the way to the shores of Australia, her first ever visit here and to welcome her, was a sold out night at Melbourne’s venue, Stay Gold. The lucky Melbourne fans were the first to get a taste of what a Taylor Acorn show is all about. CHEZ, a pop punk singer hailing from Perth, Australia was on the bill to open up for the fellow pop punk singer.

The venue was packed in well before the show was going to start. Dedicated fans were pressed up against the stage, eager to get as close to the action as they could get. As the lights dimmed, the band made their way up on stage with CHEZ in tow to kick off the night. After seeing them open for Pvris at the end of last year, I already knew we were in for a good show and they definitely didn’t disappoint. She performs with such huge energy that is hard not to get pumped up for the night. Any band or artist would be lucky to have her open for them, and we hope to see her and her accompanying band mates headlining shows very soon!

The anticipation was in the room as everyone awaited, hyped up for what’s to come. Suddenly silhouettes  appeared in front of us from the side of the stage, as the band ran up and took their places, Taylor waved out to the crowd where she was met with waves and cheers.

Launching straight into the night with her latest hit “Gray”, which everyone had all the lines memorised and were singing along, the show started off on such a high. The intimate venue making it even more of a special night.  Her setlist was compiled of hits, we were even lucky in getting a full live performance of her unreleased track “Greener” that she has been teasing on TikTok for the past few weeks! Throughout the evening Taylor showcased her versatility with being able to perform with such huge energy while maintaining her strong vocal performance. Taylor has a way of writing songs that are catchy but also hit deep and talks on important issues, with themes ranging from self-doubt to mental health, and relationships, Acorn’s lyrics resonated deeply, transforming the concert into a cathartic release for attendees. During intermission Taylor spent some time talking about how much she appreciated everyone for showing up for her tonight, and how she had always wanted to come to Australia just as a traveller, but couldn’t believe the fact she could come over here and play shows.

As she played through her setlist, with songs such as “Coma”, which she co-wrote with Hey Monday’s, Cassadee Pope, “Certified Depressant” and an emotional performance of  “Good Enough”. The night was coming to a close and she announced this is the last song to the disappointment of fans, she was sending off the night with her song “Psycho”, a song in which she hypothetically plays out as if she is a psycho ex girlfriend and the things that she would do if she were. Everyone gave it their all, jumping around, singing the words back to her. Once the song ended, she thanked everyone for coming and they all hopped off stage. The fans weren’t ready to say their farewells just yet and started up a “one more song” chant, which didn’t take long for Taylor to oblige and get back on stage for one last song. The band started out “Shapeshifting’” and it was one last chance for everyone to give their all and the crowd did just that, as she left the stage one last time, as the cheers and claps followed after her.

Taylor Acorn is such a force in the scene right now, with her honest and raw lyrics matched with her bold stage performance. Currently getting added to huge line ups, upcoming festivals including UK’s Slam Dunk Festival, and not to mention a successful run of headline shows right on the other side of the world and also back home. This is only the start for the run of success she is going to have in the industry and we can’t wait to see what’s next!
