Slipknot reaches number one on the charts with “We Are Not Your Kind”

It’s been a great year for rock and metal music, to be sure. With absolutely huge new records from the likes of newcomers Brutus and Germany prog metallers Unprocessed, as well as major veteran acts like Falls Of Rauros and the return of Tool with their first new album in 13 years, it’s a great time to be a fan of riffs. This isn’t even discussing Slipknot yet, who are projected to top the Billboard charts in the USA early next week, and with their new album We Are Not Your Kind, have knocked off a major superstar to top the charts in the UK.

Slipknot’s new album just dethroned Ed Sheeran’s new record to take the crowd in the UK, selling around 31,800 equivalent units. It’s also the band’s first #1 album in the UK since the 2001 release of Iowa, and most notably, it’s the first time a metal band has reached #1 in the UK since Iron Maiden’s The Book Of Souls released 4 years ago. And as we noted in our review, Corey Taylor has managed to channel his anger and trials into one of the more diverse vocal performances of his career.
