Though it’s been a staggering 7 years since his debut full-length Birth, School, Work, Death dropped, Houston-based rapper/rocker Hyro The Hero is back with a brand new single, “Bullet” – and a new album, Flagged Channel, out June 29th. Set to take the stage at Louder Than Life Festival later this year, he’s bringing a fiery sound to the table – one that fans of like-minded acts like The Fever 333 should immediately take note of. It’s somewhat easy on the surface to define Hyro The Hero – a mixture of rock and hip-hop – but the sound he creates on Flagged Channelis very innovative and fresh. Lead single “Bullet”, which you can hear below, is a great example of this – combining a rock/metal backdrop with some of the most vibrant hip-hop and rap you’re likely to hear all year long. If anything, the single establishes both a fresh identity, as well as calls back to previous big singles like “Ghetto Ambiance” and “Sleeping Giants”.
Make no mistake, Hyro The Hero isn’t going anywhere. While displaying reverence and respect to politically-minded purveyors of the past like The Clash, Bad Brains, and Rage Against The Machine, Hyro The Hero proves himself a leader of a new generation of music fans – ones that love music with a message and boundless energy.
