Show Review: Welcome To Elsewhere Tour – Old National Centre (02.05.22)

The Welcome To Elsewhere tour stopped by Old National Centre in Indianapolis, IN on February 5th and brought a sold out crowd with it. With all the artists not having played Indianapolis in a few years, the sold out crowd would go on to be deemed the loudest of tour by all the bands as the packed room continuously outsang the artists.

No Love For The Middle Child started the night off with a bang and grabbed the whole crowd’s attention. Across the room people were jumping and singing along. His setlist was the perfect flow to begin the night bouncing between upbeat explosive songs and slower ones. He took full advantage of the lighting rafters as he climbed them and dangled while continuing to sing perfectly on pitch leaving the crowd awestruck with his performance. He finalized his set standing on the barricade with the crowd performing “No Sleep” as they illuminated him with their phone lights and flashlights. No Love For The Middle Child was the perfect opening artist for the tour and is perfect for fans of artists like Cemetery Sun and Story Untold.

Up next came As It Is with an energy packed performance. With guitarist Ronnie Ish previously living in Indiana it’s no surprise the energy the crowd brought for them. They dropped their newest album I Went To Hell And Back just a few days before the show and the crowd was already singing along with them. Alongside playing new songs, they played the perfect mix of old and new songs opening with “The Wounded World” and ending with classic “Dial Tones”. Midway through their set they brought the first crowdsurfers of the night that would set the crowd tone for the remainder of the night. Patty Walters had a smile that never left his face throughout the set and he was jumping in the air more than he was standing.

Direct support for the night came from Australian pop-punk band, Stand Atlantic. With their performance the first and only mosh pits and circle pits broke out. The band’s performance is packed with energy, and they bring a humorous and humble energy in between songs. After announcing she lost a bet to As It Is the previous night, vocalist Bonnie Fraser had to sing their third song “Skinny Dipping” facing the drummer and apologizing to the audience for having to witness her backside only. “Wavelength” had the whole crowd jumping and the circle pit sprinting in unison. Bassist, Miki Rich, followed in No Love For The Middle Child’s footsteps climbing the lighting rafters to grab the crowd’s attention during “Lost My Cool” and without signal the stage was once again lit by the crowd’s phones and lighters. They ended with their newer single “Molotov [OK]” giving the crowd one last chance to go wild to their fastest song.

Set It Off closed the show with a mix of old and new songs, and an increased production setup that also had each member color coordinated. The band opened with some of their newer material, including singles “Skeletons” and “Projector”, but also played some of their earliest material like “Thoughts That Breathe” – a throwback to when the band were a local act in the Tampa area. As It Is vocalist Patty Walters even joined the band for their song “Partners In Crime”, and drummer Maxx Danzig took a ukelele and did vocals for “Bad Guy’ while Cody Carson played the drums.
