San Antonio band Donella Drive recently released their latest single “Fortress” following their prior track “Evil Salsa” which came out in May. They cite alternative metal, post-hardcore, and progressive rock as the genres they primarily pull from, which certainly shows in their technical guitar work, and to my ear they definitely mix some theatrics into their vibe as well, much like the greats of 2000s mall emo like MCR and The Used. Brothers Aidan Escalante (lead vocals/guitar) and Andrew Salazar (bass) are at the helm, originally forming in 2015 and since then earning their spot opening for the likes of Megadeth, Deftones, Scorpions, and Hail the Sun.
