Papa Roach knows a thing or two about longevity and adapting new ideas to their sound. Whether it’s inviting newer bands on tour with them or revamping their sound to keep things fresh, no one can accuse them of writing the same material they did in 2000.
In February 2017, the band unleashed their anthemic song “Help”, which became a rallying cry for many dealing with mental health issues. Packaged in a catchy style that blended their older material with a fresh touch, the song became one of the bigger rock songs of the year, topping Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Songs chart for six consecutive weeks. It’s no surprise that it’s a popular song – much like megahit “Scars”, it packages catchy music with relatable lyrical content. The song has now reached new heights, though, with a new RIAA certification.
The song has now been certified Gold by the RIAA for sales of over 500,000 units, marking yet another accolade for the band’s career. It’s also reached 100 million streams on Spotify, which is pretty impressive considering it’s tougher than ever for rock and metal bands to reach numbers like this. Congrats to the band, who are clearly still just as relevant as ever.
